There is intelligence and savvy, Verstand, comprehension, reach ... Astuteness, acumen and foresight, Canny cunning, geist, ésprit.
Thus are sages ... Plato, Nestor, Solomon, Manu, Buddha, Christ! Sensible, prudent, knowing, wise, Oraclers, luminaries, shafts of light!
They were sober, sound and sane, Right in mind, compos mentis. They got things in proportion, Brought to reason all that's bonkers.
In the know — with ken and savvy, They acquainted, mastered, grasped, Gripped it pat, dead to rights .... They had it at their finger tips.
Brainwork, headwork, mental labour, Workings of the mind ... ideas. They weighed, mused, pondered all, Profoundly thought ... deliberated.
