RED ROSE, the film about Robert Burns, starring Michael Rodgers, Lucy Russell and Rebecca Palmer is selected for the Competition section of the Monaco Film Festival. The film will be screened at the glamorous Cinema Le Sporting, Monte Carlo on Friday 3rd December 2004. Red Rose is in Competition with 5 other films for the prestigious Angel Award for non-violent films. The film director Robbie Moffat said of the festival ..’It is a great honour to be in the competition with such good quality films. The Jury line up is impressive with Omar Sharif, Malick Bowens, Francine Pellegrino on the Award committee’. Mairi Sutherland the writer says… For a film about Robert Burns, this is a very appropriate showcase for Red Rose, and as its first international screening it is a great way to launch the film.
The Angel Award is given for the best, non-violent film overall. This award is presented by the Organizers, Amazing Entertainment Ltd. London, and one Honorary Celebrity Film Committee Member (to be announced).
In addition to the Angel Trophy Award, the International Awards Jury will nominate a further nine awards, The Angel Certificate Awards, donated by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Beverly Hills. For - Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Newcomer, Best Writer, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Soundtrack, and Best Ensemble Cast.

To help his grandmother he sets out for Johannesburg with his father’s last gift, a tribal drum in search of his uncle. The journey throws him into the stark realities of life, but his amazing spirit never wavers. Directed by South African Director, David Hickson and written by American Writer/Producer W, David McBrayer. The film was shot entirely on location in super 35/scope in Kwa Zulu, Natal, Soweto and Johannesburg, South Africa.
