RED ROSE PREMIERE
The big news on Palm Tree’s latest feature, Red Rose, is that it is going to be premiered at Ayr Racecourse on Thursday the 27th of May. But unlike other premieres, Red Rose, starring Michael E Rodgers as Robert Burns (pictured right), will be seen as a “drive–in” movie. That way more people can see it on the big screen for the first time!.The racecourse., owner Allan Macdonald, said: “Its early days but we’re really excited about having a drive-in premiere. I thought the film was excellent. I think that it will be well received”

Red Rose also screens at the Cannes film market on 14th May at 1.30pm in cinema Arcades 1 and again on the 16th May in cinema Star 4 at 8pm. For more information on Red Rose itself, please check out our website. www.deevee.net.

RAIN DOGS “TOO REAL”?
The recently completed heist movie “Rain Dogs” was the centre of some controversy, as reported in the press last week*. The film, about four thieves stealing a painting from a Scottish estate, is eerily reminiscent of an art theft that recently took place at the Duke of Buccleuch’s stately home. But head of production Mairi Sutherland confirmed that “It is a work of fiction which coincidentally involves the theft of a Leonardo da Vinci from a Scottish Castle”. Sunday Mail

Rain Dogs and Red Rose are both screening at the Cannes Film Market taking place from May 12th to the 22nd. Rain Dogs screens in Cannes in Arcades 3 on 14th of May at 8.30pm and again on 17th May at 8.30pm.

BIG IN RUSSIA
It appears that Palm Tree has quite a few fans in Russia also. Recent feature “The Bone Hunter’ has appeared in the top ten DVD chart, sitting snuggly with other successes such as The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix Reloaded. The film stars James Watson and Victoria Pritchard and is the first in a trilogy. The prequel, “The Winter Warrior is also on the Russian chart at number 15 in the popularity stakes. The film was bought by Lizard Cinema Trade for Russia and the Baltic states last year in Cannes.
